I’m Lucia – Academic, Lawyer, Mentor & Speaker

As an academic at SOAS, University of London, I have the privilege of working with amazing colleagues and students from a rich multicultural background. I was born and partially raised in Angola, and grew up as a refugee in The Netherlands, where I have enjoyed a significant part of my education. Inequality, access to education, and human rights protection have always been a passion and mission, and I made the commitment to dedicate my career in law and academia to combine these passions.

I founded BlackSpertise, a consultancy focused on merging my experiences and expertise in Law, Higher Education, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategies, and decolonising scholarship, to challenge inequality, discrimination, and more in the public and private sector. I leverage my expertise to bring about positive changes and attitudes in organisations facing challenges in creating a more inclusive community.
